Firefighters are frontline workers employed by governments and private institutions for tackling emergency situations typically fire outbreaks, medical emergencies, and other disaster management services.
What does a firefighter do?
A common misconception is that a firefighter is someone whose role is limited only to dousing fires and protecting lives in case of a fire outbreak. While this is an important part of their jobs, firefighters do a lot more than this. Firefighters are first responders to many medical emergencies which means that they are trained emergency medical technicians (EMTs). Further, firefighters are tasked with generating awareness and sensitizing citizens about fire prevention and disaster preparedness. Firefighters are required to maintain tools and fire vehicles and are always kept on alert for future emergencies.
